The Rochester Red Wings so far this season have an 8-11 record. They beat the Buffalo Bisons 3-2 earlier yesterday with Matt Brown providing the winning run on a home run. Scott Diamond allowed 2 hits in six innings of pitching for the Red Wings. Let’s look at some of the key players on this club and their stats so far this season. Kyle Gibson has made 4 starts so far this season for the Red Wings, allowing 7 runs in 20 innings of pitching. The 2009 First round draft pick by the Twins has allowed only 4 bases on balls and 21 strikeouts with hitters hitting .221 against him.
Carlos Gutierrez is another prospect in the Twins organization. In 8 relief appearances out of the Red Wings bullpen he has an ERA of 3.09 in 11 innings of pitching. He’s allowed 6 walks with 6 Strikeouts.
Phil Dumatrait, the last has done well despite the fact he’s walked 7 batters in 9 1/3 innings of pitching. He has an ERA of 1.93 while fanning 8 batters. Scott Diamond has an ERA of 3.42 in 4 starts with 9 bases on balls and 16 strikeouts.
Ben Revere has not done well this season so far. In 18 games, he’s hitting at a .214 clip in 70 at bats, scoring 6 runs and driving in 5 runs.
Trevor Plouffe is another player we should mention. He’s hitting at a .271 clip with 5 HRs and 12 RBIs with 8 runs scored. He has a slugging percentage of .610 with a .333 on base percentage. Rene Tosoni, who’s been called up to replaced the injured Delmon Young, has hit 3 HRs with 16 RBIs while hitting at a .286 clip. Anthony Swarzak, who was called up to replaced the demoted Eric Hacker, has an ERA OF 4.86 IN 4 starts with the Red Wings.
The New Britain Rock Cats so far have a 9-8 record losing their last game 11-5 yesterday too New Hampshire.
David Bromberg has an ERA of 3.63 in 4 appearances with 11 strikeouts. Chris Parmelee is batting .279 with 2 HRs and 10 RBIs. Joe Benson is batting .354 with 2 HRs and 12 RBIs with 13 runs scored.
The Fort Meyers Miracle lost their last game 4-3 yesterday and now have a record of 11-9. Chris Herrmann is batting at a .362 clip with1 HR and 15 RBIs with 13 runs scored. Danny Rams is currently batting .367 with 1 HR and 10 RBIs. Aaron Hicks, the 2008 first round draft pick by the Twins, has gotten off to a slow start batting .215 with 4 RBIs.
The Beloit Snappers won yesterday’s game 10-2 over the Midwest League leading Burlington Bees and now have a record of 10-7. Oswaldo Arcia is hitting at a .362 clip with 4 HRs and 15 RBIs with 15 runs scored. Danny Ortiz is batting .362, 3 HRs and 11 RBIs with 12 runs scored. B.J. Hermsen has an ERA of 2.74 despite having a record of 2-2. He’s only allowed 7 earned runs in 23 innings of pitching.
